Increasing Diversity

Learner 'E' arrived in Shetland in 2008 looking for work. She soon found a job, a flat, and attended higher-level ESOL classes to continue to improve her English. After a few months she was encouraged to share her skills through offering an Evening Class. She taught classes for a couple of years and now provides classes privately.

Adult Learning actively recruits tutors from other cultures to provide a more culturally diverse range of classes. 14 tutors from other countries now offer classes as part of Adult Learning's Community Based programme.
