Becoming A Volunteer

 Learner 'D' was keen to avoid negative social networks and developing associations, following a period in prison.

He joined an Adult Learning group and became involved in a film project looking at the causes of offending and the impact of offending on families and the community. His confidence and skills improved and though he took an active part in the film and in research, he chose not to feature in it, as he wanted to put his life of crime behind him.

At the end of the product he undertook training and took on a regular volunteer role, this is helping him develop workplace skills and gain relevant experience.
