Numeracy

Numeracy is about having basic maths skills and feeling confident about using numbers in everyday life and work.

Anyone can feel anxious and lose confidence with numbers. Whatever your starting point Adult Learning is here to help you improve your everyday number skills and become more confident using them in your daily life.

Numeracy is:

  • Feeling more confident with numbers at work, on your payslip and when managing your money
  • Feeling able to apply for a new job, help your children with their homework or other activities that involves using numbers or data
  • Feeling able to spot a good deal in the supermarket, do household shopping and budgeting
  • Being confident with time, for example when reading bus timetables, planning journeys or making a travel booking
  • Using a calculator to work something out, or knowing what to Google, and being able to know if you get a sensible answer
  • Understanding what percentages mean and how they are used

  • Support to access formal qualifications delivered by other providers
