English for Speakers of Other Languages

Improve your English speaking, reading, and writing skills with our free ESOL classes. All our classes are delivered online via ZOOM. Designed for individuals whose first language is not English, our classes help you gain the confidence, and language skills needed for everyday life, further education, and employment.

Classes to suit your starting point

ESOL Beginners – Mondays, 7.00 pm to 8.30pm, ONLINE via ZOOM

This class is for learners with no English. Your confidence in English will be built by improving your speaking, listening and reading skills. The classes will concentrate on developing language skills to help you with social interactions and everyday conversations such as health, travel, shopping and getting involved in the local community.

ESOL Vocabulary Support – Tuesdays, 7.00pm to 8.30pm, ONLINE via ZOOM

This class is for learners with basic English who want to improve. We will help you build the basic language skills you need to communicate in spoken and written English. You will learn about English grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The aim of the class is to enable you to feel more comfortable with English language in your daily life in Shetland and break down language barriers.

ESOL Pre-intermediate – Thursdays, 7.00pm to 8.30pm, ONLINE via ZOOM

This class will build on your existing knowledge and skills and help you learn more about the core language for communicating effectively in spoken and written English, including English grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. In also explores language for employability, study and living a fulfilling life here in Shetland.
