Improving Quality

Adult Learning is inspected by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education as part of Learning Community Inspections along with partners, Youth Services and Community Work.  Our quality improvement framework is HMIe's publication 'How Good is our Community Learning and development.

Tutors and staff should make themselves familiar with this document and consider how they can improve their own practice and that of the service.

A Quality Assurance Team from Adult Learning, Youth Services and Community Work has taken a number of initiatives to improve quality, including Quality Teas, a bi-monthly meeting to share and develop practice.  The Team is currently developing support for staff around self-evaluation and has developed a Quality Improvement Toolkit to support quality improvement.

Quality Improvement Toolkit

The Toolkit brings together the activities and information used to support Quality Improvement within Community Learning and Development (CLD) in the Shetland Islands Council.

We hope you  find the toolkit a useful resource to find out more about the context in which we work, and to plan and evaluate your work.

The toolkit will be reviewed and updated annually, let us know how you are using it and how we can improve it.
