Congratulations were the order of the day at the glittering Scottish Learning Partnership Award ceremony in Edinburgh last week. Shelley Hendren and Marc Coyne represented Shetland and the 'Learners Got Talent' project, fighting off tough competition from over 100 nominations to gain the award.
'Learners Got Talent' is a project involving learners from across the North of Scotland. The project developed learners' skills and confidence using a Virtual Learning Environment to organise a two-day conference held in Nairn earlier this year.
Shelley, pictured here (second from the left) with representatives from Moray and the Western Isles, was selected to be part of the group presented with the "Good Practice" award by celebrity radio presenter, Grant Stott.
Shelley, David Watt and Nicole Watt were part of the group involved in organising the event. A report and DVD about the project have now been produced and are being distributed nationally to encourage learners in other areas to follow the North of Scotlan's lead.
Adult Learning Manager, Nancy Heubeck commented, "Learners truly have talent. I'm pleased that learners' work, creativity and innovation have been recognised nationally. We are already planning smaller scale events using Virtual Learning Environments connecting learners across the North of Scotland."
The award is judges and presented by the Scottish Learning Partnership. The project was funded through Leader Funding.
